The biggest hitters in baseball hit the fastball long. But, the best hitters can hit the curve. What happens on a project when you’re thrown a major curve? Howard and Monica are going to present two scenarios, one residential and one commercial. These scenarios have the mother of all curves on a project, limitations of money AFTER you started the project. They will go through 3 specific adjustments to your strategy that will help you get a hit and still go yard on PROFIT! This session will focus on technical and operational adjustments. Attend both sessions to receive a FREE GIFT and enter to WIN $500 CASH in the HW3TV booth! You must be present to win and have signed in to both sessions.

The Residential Scenario - Sewage Backflow beginning on main floor and flowing into the basement. Remediation initiated. Day 2 find out there is a limit of $25k on the policy. The insured doesn’t want to pay over the amount of insurance for the entire project, including the repair and finishes. You’ve extracted, initiated cleaning, humidity control and deconstruction. Your initial estimate was approximately $19k for the mitigation and remediation and $22k for the repairs. $33K total estimate but a policy limit of $25K. What do you do now?

Commercial Scenario - Damage from a hurricane. You’ve mobilized your CAT response team to help. It is a hotel. You put a complete mitigation plan together with the owner and get agreement on your plan and pricing. You estimate it will take 3 weeks to perform your services. 5 days into the service, you find out the claim is at the building policy limit. Your original agreement was for T&M billing and your plan was agreed. What do you do? Do you modify your plan? If so, how? Do you walk away? Do you press on because you have an agreement and it’s the owner’s problem?

All of our industry's different equipment and drying method options have limitations and sweet spots for their operation. This discussion will focus on how to maximize and compare these options regardless of the category, class, or outside conditions on the loss.
